Urban Expression was a one night event held in Dublin, Ireland that intended to highlight the paths we have taken to get to where we are today. Through photography, visual art, slam poetry, and music, our aim was to show that each individual is on a unique journey.

 

As a nine student collective, we curated an exhibition that explored the aforementioned through an amalgamation of artistic mediums. Each performer was tasked to articulate what ‘Urban Expression’ means to them, and how their art reflects their distinct, personal perspective. The show featured a live graffiti demonstration, visual artwork and photography exhibited, and spoken word performances by both Irish and international talents, each responding to the unifying thread of Urban Expression.

 

For this project, I was personally tasked with the following:

• Researched and reached out to local performance artists

• Distributed promotional materials to businesses around Dublin

• Assisted with setup, managing crises as they arose

• Photographed the event, capturing the essence of Urban Expression (Images featured below)

 

With over 100 attendees from Dublin, America, and Italy, our one night event was deemed as a success.
